A Very Bloggy Birthday!!

Hey ladies!!! I can't even believe it but today is my blog's 1st birthday!

So this kind of crept up on me!  After taking a little break from the blogging world to deal with some personal things, I lost track of when I started and I couldn't believe when I found out that it was a year ago today!  So I am being a bad blogger and I don't have a huge giveaway or big freebie pack for you lovely ladies like some of the other awesome ones that I have seen.  But I did put my entire store on sale for 20% off all products!  This sale only lasts until 8/2/12 so don't wait!!

When I started this blog, I was looking for a hobby that wasn't going to make my husband and I gain 100 pounds (enter 2010's hobby-- baking).  I was also looking for something that wasn't going to cost a lot of money and give me something to do while we were hanging out or while he was playing       X Box... (Oh how I loathe the X Box).

I had recently discovered the wonderful world of teaching blogs after realizing that the collaboration and teaming at my tiny little Catholic school was just not as good or helpful as I had always dreamed.  I don't know if it's because I am an Intervention Specialist and teachers don't think that they can team up with me on much.  Or maybe it's because I was a new teacher and they thought I didn't have much to offer.  Or heck, it could have been because they are all very much veteran teachers and on the verge of retirement, so in their minds what they've been doing has worked until now and it will work until they leave for good.

But I was desperately looking for a place to find good ideas, share some of my ideas, collaborate with other amazing teachers, and have a place to grow in my profession!  This has been the greatest gift I could ask for and the answer to my prayers!  Thank you to all of you for your amazing support, ideas, and interest in the crazy ramblings that I have had to share!  I hope that you all stick around for many birthdays to come and I can't wait to be with you as yours continue to grow!

So go on over to my TPT Store and find some stuff that will work for you and your classroom of kiddos!  I have some stuff in the works that will get added hopefully soon!  Have a great night ladies and thanks for being a part of my wild ride!

A Little Monday Made It

Hey Gals!  So today, I woke up early, got ready and headed up to school.  After my 25 minute drive, I got there and the lock was taped over telling me I was still not allowed in.  I was really not happy about this!  Panic has set in a bit and I really need to get some things done and figured the heck out in my classroom, especially since I moved rooms!  So instead of being productive at school, I went to the teacher store, Michaels, and Target, and came home to be productive here instead.

Anyways... Onto the Monday Made It with Tara!! This weekend the majority of my time went to baking and I'll share that with you at the end.  But first, I did do a quick little thing for school that I thought I would share.  Being a resource teacher, I don't have enough time with my students to do big fancy fun things to reward good behavior or progress so I have had to get creative with those 2 things.  I usually have a big bag of candy and I use that for both academic progress and good behavior.  But this year I want to change it up a bit.  So.... for students who do something great academically, meet a goal, or show some good progress, will get a Smartie!  Who doesn't love Smarties?  So to hold all of these yummy treats, I made a little jar!

Pretty cute right?!?!  I got a large square mason jar from Target for 5 Bucks (but I'm sure you could find a cheaper jar to hold them at a dollar store or something, but this was just more convenient for me.)  I used stickers for the words "smartie pants" and I took a piece of tissue paper and wrapped it around the inside.  Finally, I tied a ribbon around the top.  Most simple craft ever! No paint, glue, or mod podge needed!

And as I had mentioned before, I did a lot of baking this weekend.  Our school secretary's daughter got married on Saturday and she hired me to do her wedding cake/cupcake display!  I had to make 240 cupcakes and a 10 inch square cake.  Man this was a lot but I think it went really well... I had a few hiccups... I tried to do too many things at once and left my butter in the micro too long and the first cake flopped exploded in my oven.
But that happens and everything came out great in the end at least I think so!!

So those are my Monday Made It's.  What are yours?

100 Followers Giveaway

Thanks everyone for the congratulations that you've given me on my little 'ole accomplishment of 100 followers.  I am so excited that people have found my blog and more importantly, have found it good enough to follow!  Most days I just feel like I am rambling on and on and I just hope that I have been able to share things with you all that you find helpful and interesting!  So thank you to all of you for following my randomness, staying with me through my rough patches and absence, and supporting me in my teaching adventures!

I have put a lot of thought into what I would do to celebrate.

-  Should I host a TPT sale?  Well that is a no at this time due to the awesome sales already going on!  -  Maybe to a rafflecopter?  I honestly don't like rafflecopter so that was a quick no.
-  Have some of you amazing ladies share some of your resources?  That's a lot of planning that I just
don't have time to orchestrate right now with all that's going on.
-  Giveaway a packet?  There's the winner!

So in celebration of my 100 followers, I am going to give my newest packet away to 10 of you awesome followers!  That's right, I said 10!  But don't worry, if you aren't able to get a free one it is uploaded in my TPT Store here for just $2.00!

This is a writing assessment pack.  Included are journal prompts and story starters for each month.  On each prompt page, is a box for you to document the number of capitalization, spelling, and punctuation mistakes as well as whether or not the student stayed on topic.  Also included are the prompts in a cut and paste set-up so that you can glue the prompt in a journal or onto primary paper.

I use these to track progress of my students throughout the year as well as collect data on specific goals.  On top of using the notes box, I also write down things the student improved or did well on as well as things the student is struggling with.  Examples of this could be writing "improved on subject-verb agreement" "needs to improve on using correct tense."  Etc.

So... All you have to do is leave me a comment with your email and the first 10 people to do that will receive a copy of the packet by email in the next day or 2.  I hope that you can find this resource beneficial and something that you can use in your class.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my lovelies!

Wow!! What a day for a blog!! Awards & 100 Followers?!?!

Howdy girls!!  It has been one of those weeks so far... The electricity has gone out 3 times, we had Direct TV installed, I've been running around like a mad woman, and tutoring has been hectic.  Last night though, I got to go meet my sister-in-law for dinner and drinks... 5 hours later, I came on home and crashed!  I absolutely love meeting up with her especially since all of my friends somehow ended up moving to Chicago... Boo!!

Anyways, it has just been crazy.  I had an hour break between tutoring sessions today and so I popped open the computer, went to my dashboard and I about jumped for joy in the middle of Barnes & Noble!  I reached 100 followers!  If you've been following me for awhile, you know I had set a goal to hit 100 followers before my little Bloggy Blog turned 1 (Aug. 31st so stay tuned for that!)  After a few weeks, I was starting to think that it just wasn't going to happen, but what do ya know it did!  Thank you to all of you lovely ladies for following my ramblings!!  I will be having a 100 follower freebie for ya'll hopefully on Sunday or Monday.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I will be baking 240 cupcakes and a cake for a wedding so I will be a bit pre-occupied with all that but I promise not to forget you all!

As if reaching 100 followers wasn't enough, I was also awarded 2 awards!!  Beth & Katie over at Simply Sweet Teaching awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award!  If you don't follow them you really should.  They are big on Common Core and have some great math assessments for 1st grade.  And due to my inability to get on and do this post until now, Abby over at Mrs. Saunders Lovelies also awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award!  I just recently started following her and she is new to the blogging world this month!!  I am really enjoying her page and can't wait to see what else she has for us!

I also received the Liebster Award from Mary at Teaching Special Kids.  She is also a new blogger as of this month and she has some great ideas and I love reading what she has shared so far!  She also wrote a little note about what she liked about the blogs that she nominated and I just thought that was so cool and fun to see!  I am going to steal borrow this idea as well!

So first up... the Versatile Blogger!
Here are the rules:
  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  • Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  • Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  • Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  • Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

  • Ok, I am going to break the rules and do way less than 15!  Please don't shun me!  Also, since I just posted a tons of facts about me, I am going to skip that part as well...

    1. Teresa at 2nd Grade Pig Pen - I just recently found her and I love her cute background so much!  She has also had some great giveaways!

    2. Mrs J. at 5th Grade Chalk Talk - Since I teach sped K-8, I follow all sorts of blogs and I was so glad to find hers!  She has some great ideas and resources for math which I always need!

    3. Amanda at A Special Kind of Class - OK I absolutely love her page!  She has amazing ideas and resources!

    4. Simone at Busy as a HoneyBee - I love Simone!  I have been following her from the beginning and she has been a huge support and follower of me!  She has great things to share and her posts are always interesting to read!

    5. Lilian at Me Teach Good - Ok her blog name is just hilarious! I love it!  I also just recently found her but I have loved what I've seen so far!  For all you owl lovers, she has some great things for you!

And now for the Liebster Award!
    The rules:
    1. Link back to the person who gave it to you.
    2. Post the award to your blog.
    3. Give the award to at least 5 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
    4. Leave a comment on the 5 blogs to let them know that they have been offered this award

    1. Ms. C. at Just Wild About Teaching - I love reading her stuff.  She is entertaining and has some really cute stuff!

    2. Alicia at Keeping it True in K-1-2 - a fellow special ed blogger, Alicia is so creative and and makes some really cute stuff! Oh and... holy organization she is good!

    3. Lisa at Fourth & Ten - I love her blog design and all of the resources and downloads I have seen on her page are A-Dor-Able! She is also a fellow Ohio blogger which makes me happy!

4.Ms. Smith over at Adventures of Ms. Smith - She was a first year teacher last year and she has some great ideas and activities. I just recently found her blog but I love all I've seen thus far! She just goes to show that us Newbie teachers have just as much to add as those veterans!

Ok there are so many other amazing bloggers out there that deserve these awards too so make sure you spread the wealth!!  However, I am exhausted and it is really time for me to go to bed!  Stay tuned for a big 100 follower freebie and an upcoming 1st birthday celebration!

So let's try out this Monday Made it...

I am not gonna lie... I have trying so much to enjoy some relaxation for awhile and so I have not been that crafty recently.  Between tutoring and day to day life, it has been BUSY here at the Kazy household so every free second I have gotten I have used to relax and enjoy my first summer not working 45 hours a week!  But when The Hubs decided to go golfing (which always seems to be an all day activity) on Saturday, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to get some creating done!

I know I am a little late to jump on the Teacher ToolBox band wagon... I have always been late on the band wagon... But I finally made it!!  What was the deciding factor to get it done you ask?  Well I was doing 1 of my many daily Pinterest scrolls when I saw these...
    Pinned Image

And they were free!!!!  You can go to Kristen's TPT page here and download them yourself!  They are all sized to fit the 22 compartment organizer that you can find at Home Depot.  She also included a blank page which I copy and pasted as a picture and used Baby Boston Font from Kevin & Amanda's fonts.  That came in handy because I needed a few labels that she didn't have and didn't want a few labels that she did have.  I cut out each label, stuck on some double sided tape, and voila!

I also did some baking this weekend!  Do any of you follow Gina's Skinny Taste blog?  I have tried quite a few of her recipes and they have all been AMAZING!  This weekend I made some Banana Oatmeal Cookies (click the link to go to the recipe).  Yum Yum! The original recipe calls for walnuts which I used the first time I made the recipe, but this time I didn't have any so I decided to substitute some chocolate instead!  I never thought  I would disagree with the statement "Everything is better with chocolate" but in this case, I really did like them better with the walnuts!!  It is like banana bread in a cookie form!

Tell Me More Tell Me More!

I am linking up with Amy over at Step into 2nd Grade for a linky party!  I love linky parties, especially ones that have a little get to know ya type aspect to them!  So head on over to her blog and link up so that I can learn more about your little quirks!!

So here ya go... Where to start, I guess we'll start from the beginning!... Don't judge! haha!

    1. When I was 3, I blew on a dandelion and wished for a brother or sister... When my 3rd sister was born (I was 10) I told my parents "no, I asked for 1!"

    2. I love family and I can't wait to start my own!

    3. I have tried just about every sport there is out there and didn't stick with any of them for more than 2 years... I did not get the athletic genes in my family.

    4. I was terrified of dogs as a kid to the point that I would not go to a friend's house if they had one.  Somewhere between my junior year in high school and my senior year in college it kind of just faded away and I am completely obsessed and head over heels in love with my puppy Charlie!

    5. When I was 15 my parents told me that I needed to learn how to ride the riding lawnmower before they would let me go get my temps for my license I'm pretty sure they just said this so that I could help them with cutting the grass, but that plan failed.  My first time trying, I ran it into the neighbors house... I never had to cut the grass again and I still got my license!

    6. I love cheese but I will not eat it on anything that I will put mayonnaise or ranch dressing on... it's just too much creamyness!  The Hubs thinks I'm crazy!

    7. And on the topic of Ranch dressing... I am OBSESSED with it and will put it on just about anything!

    8. I am terrified of masks!  I don't know what it is but it is safe to say that Halloween is like torture for me.  My sweet nephews are also aware of this fact and use it against me as frequently as they can.

    9. My husband and I met on a blind date 2 weeks before I left to go back out of state for school... We made it work and have been together for almost 4 years now.

    10. I will NOT go without my toes painted and not just in the summer when I'm wearing sandals.  I won't even go more than a day in the winter either.  The thought of them being unpainted completely freaks me out.

    11. I have had 10 surgeries/procedures and I actually punched a doctor while under anesthesia... It's ok, I still see him and no damage was done!

    12. I am not in my dream teaching position... I am not the biggest fan of a pull out resource room setting.  I dream of having my own classroom some day, but for now, my job is a safe and I am pretty good at it.

Welp, that's all for now!  Your turn to air out all your dirty laundry! Haha just kidding!  Head on over to Step into 2nd Grade and link on up!

Teacher Binder Project has begun! & Calendars

Hey gals!  So I had 2 tutoring sessions today and 1 got cancelled after I got there so... I got to come home at noon today!  Yay!  It has also been raining all day and the cable went out so I have been watching movies and working on some school things!  I have seen lots of teacher binder projects and thought I would make my tab pages and my calendars today.  I am not sharing my tab pages mostly because I know that what I need is very different from you Gen. Ed. ladies but I thought I'd share my design because...well... they are just too cute!

I'm doing an ocean theme in my room this year but I wanted to make these generic so that I could reuse them.  They take a lot of ink to print and I tend to have the same binder system each year.

I tend to be over organized sometimes which actually can lead to problems!  I have a monthly/weekly planner that I got from Target that I use to keep track of things I have to do each week, things I want to blog about, housework, meal planning, places to be, etc.  I also use Google Calendar which syncs to my phone so that I can keep up with meetings, appointments, and places to be.

Finally, I come to my teacher calendar which I keep in my binder.  It includes testing dates, data collection schedules, the school calendar, ISP/IEP meetings, RTI Meetings, Conferences, Teacher meetings, etc.  I have seen so many cute and awesome versions through pinterest and all you amazing bloggers however they didn't quite fit my needs.  Some have too much color and I just can't afford all that color ink... I'd rather save it for games and activities for the kiddos.  Some are set up in a landscape format which I just am not a fan of when in a binder.  So I made some of my own!  They have color, but not too much color, they are vertical for ease of use, and I left out the weekends!!

I am kind of in love with them and maybe you will be too!
I will be putting them in my TPT Store, but for the first 3 comments, I will send them to you for free so be sure to leave your email (at least I think this is the best way to get them to you all, let me know if there is a better one!)!

Welp, I am off to get ready...The Hubs and I are going to see Jeff Dunham tonight and I am so excited!  He is just hilarious and I really start to think that those dummies are actually talking by the end of his shows!  Have a great day everyone!

What's Your Guilty Pleasure? Linky Party!

First of all...thank you all of you lovely ladies for your kind words and suggestions.  It fits perfectly for what I had planned to post tonight!  I love linky parties, who doesnt?!?!  This one is going to be super fun to join and you all should join too!

I am linking up with The Resource Room Teacher for her guilty pleasure linky party... Ok... We all have them so why not share 'em!

    So here it goes...

    1. Bachelorette/Bachelor... It's kind of a serious problem.... I know some of you other ladies are watching Bachelorette... who do you want to win?  I am secretly hoping that she turns down both the guys... even though I do really like them both... but then she goes back to Sean because let's face it, he's kind of perfect for her!

Also... it's not ok how freaking beautiful she is... as I sit here in gym shorts and a t-shirt...

    2. Pinterest... I know you all are thinking umm who doesn't love them some Pinterest... but it is a bit of a problem!  I have it downloaded on my phone therefore I scroll through those lovely pictures and ideas about a bazillion times a day.  Waiting for kiddos to show up for tutoring, in line at a check out, waiting for The Hubs to finish getting gas, in bed before I can fall asleep.  I'm not sure what it is, but scrolling through all of that gives me a sense of calming haha!  I just heard how cheesy that sounded bahaha!!!!!

3.Glee... I am a Gleek. There I said it!  So much that I actually had Glee's version of Don't Stop Believing played at my Wedding reception! I know I know, I'm kinda lame but holy crap is it good and who doesn't love them some Journey songs???  So ready for fall for it the new season to start up again!

    4. Cupcakes... I absolutely love them!  2 years ago, after graduating, finishing my summer job, and struggling to find a teaching job I started baking to give me something to do during the day.  It became a bit of an obsession.  Mixing weird flavors, trying new swirl tops, finding fun liners and sprinkles!!! I probably have 200 liners in a small cabinet in the kitchen... it's kind of a storage problem in our tiny little house!  But Oh it makes me so happy!

    5. Nail Polish... I'm not quite sure when this guilty pleasure started, but I don't think I have left
Target without a new bottle of nail polish in...well... a very long time.  Who doesn't love adding some color to their lives right?

    6.  And last but not least.... Not to sound like a lush because I am definitely not... I totally love me some Malibu Coconut Rum.  Especially in the summer! There is something to be said about a hot summer's night and a drink in hand, sitting with family and friends relaxing and enjoying the time together!
There ya have it!! Shh! They are my guilty pleasures in life!  What are yours?

Any tips or suggestions to increase my traffic?

Hey gals!  So my blog's 1st birthday is coming up (Aug. 31st!!!) and I kinda can't even believe it.  It has been a year of ups and downs, but I keep coming back to this here little bloggy blog and all of you amazing ladies.  It is such a great place to go for collaboration (since I don't get much of that at my school), support, ideas, resources, friend building and so much more.  I had set a goal for myself awhile back that I thought it would be so cool to have triple digit followers by my 1st birthday.  I have no idea why I thought that would be awesome and ya'll might think I am so silly but it just looks so cool when I go to someone elses page and see a triple digit number under the followers.  I had a lengthy little break while I was dealing with some personal life things but since being back I have loved it all the more!

So my question... do you have any tips on how to get some more people to my little 'ole blog?  I do lots of freebies, made it super cute, opened a TPT store and try to post things that I think people will find helpful (more during the school year than now obviously...because well... there's just more to share then).  I highly doubt I will make good ole triple digits in the next 14 days but I'd love to continue growing and I have definitely felt like I have been at a consistent number recently.

So that's my question for you... What did you do when you were still a youngin in the blogging world and had double digit followers?  What do you as readers want to see from me?  This has been such an outlet and support for me and I would love to continue to learn and progress in this wonderful world of teacher blogging!!

Thanks all, hope your having a great week!

    Fear Zapper!

Hey guys!  I hope that everyone is loving their summer break!  I have been so busy lately with tutoring, house stuff, school preparations, and trying to squeeze in fun stuff.  I have been working on a ton of stuff but nothing is finished so I don't have much to share on the creative front.

I do want to share with you something that is kind of exciting.  One of my mom's friends has been working with some pretty awesome kiddos to create an online fear therapy program.  It's called My Fear Zapper and you can check out the website here.

This is a program for kids ages 3-7 but it can help older kiddos as well.  If your child or a child you know has some thing they are really scared of, monsters, storms, the dark, etc., this program can really help them!

Last week I went and met with them and they discussed some ideas about getting the program to be school friendly as well.  I got to give them some pointers and suggestions on how best it could be used in schools and they offered me a chance to set up a curriculum program to go with it that teachers could use or that parents could use to supplement the online portion!  I am so excited to have this opportunity and I think that  I can be really good at it!  Finding the time to make sure I can get it done is another thing but man what an experience this will be!

So if you have a child that has a fear and you just don't know know what to do about it anymore, you should definitely go check out this program, they have had some amazing results!

    Student Portfolio FREEBIE

Hey guys!  I have been working on some things for the upcoming school year like I know many of you are too!  One of the things that I want to do better at next year is to get my students more involved in their IEP goals.  I am really good at tracking data and seeing what we need to work on but my kiddos never really know what they need to focus on and they never really seem to understand why we spend every math session working on counting money.  I think that if they can have a one-on-one "conference" with me each trimester and set some goals themselves as well as track them by picking their best work, I think that they may make some better progress.  So with that being said, I made a set of printables for student portfolios.  Included in this set, you will find both student centered portfolio pages and teacher centered ones, all used to help track and support the goals of the students.

I have uploaded these into my TPT store and I am going to give them to you for free!  You can go here and download the packet.
All I ask from you is that you:
    - follow me if you don't already
    - and follow my TPT Store

I hope that these can help you in some way!

    New Blog Design

Guys!!! I did it!! I finally found a good tutorial to do backgrounds, headers, blog buttons, and tons more!  If you are looking for some support on either creating a blog or updating your blog... you should really go check out Megan's blog I Teach, What's Your Super Power.  She has a page called Blog Baby Blog and she has tons of tips and tutorials!  Thanks to her, I finally figured out what the heck I was doing!  It's highly likely that I will change this design a few times, but for now, I am liking how it looks!  I still need to make my button so stay tuned for that!  I hope you like what I've done!

Here is my future button... as I try and figure out how the heck to use it!

Don't you just love Subway Art: quick tutorial and FREEBIE!

Hey guys!  How am I spending my Saturday evening you may ask?  Watching some UFC with The Hubs and a few of his friends.  I hate UFC... I will never understand men and their weird interest in fighting but whatever.  I was able to try out some of my pinterest inspired recipes.

I made Buffalo Chicken Potato Skins which got some great reviews!
    Some Queso also delicious!
    And some desserts.

    But anyways....

Have you guys been seeing all the cool Subway art out there?  I just love it!  I had this one empty spot in my kitchen and I just wasn't happy with anything I was finding to put in there.  I decided that I was going to figure out how to make some of my own Subway Art and use cooking words!  I went to google and typed in Subway Art Tutorials and found some that used Adobe Photoshop which I don't use.  I found another that used a program that isn't even up and running anymore.  I was starting to get slightly annoyed.  Then I figured... why not just use powerpoint.  If you're like me, you use powerpoint for your awesome activities and therefore are a pro.

The big deal with subway art is that you use fun and different fonts, colors, and placement.  I figured that if I can rotate a picture, I'm sure I can rotate a text box.  Sure enough, you can!  So here is a quick tutorial if you want to make your own Subway Art using Powerpoint.

    1) You need to first download some awesome fonts.  If you need some good websites to download free fonts here are some of my favorites:

    2)  Once you have some fonts, you are pretty much good to go!  Think of the theme you are going to use and come up with a list of words that you are going to use.

    3) Once you open up powerpoint, click the "insert" tab and click "text box".  Then drag a small box to give you some space to type in.  Go back to your home screen, pick a font and type your word.  Once you have the word typed, you can then place with the size and the placement on the page.  Just drag and drop it where ever you want it on the page.

    4) If you want to turn the word so that it is sideways on the page, once you have the word typed, make sure that you have clicked on the word and there is a dashed box around it.  Then at the top of powerpoint, an orange box should be visible and says "Drawing Tools."  You should then see on the right side a drop down box that says "rotate".  Click it and choose "Rotate Right 90 degrees".

    5) Repeat the process for all of your words.  Make sure to change the fonts and the sizes so that it doesn't look all uniform.

    6) That's it!  Pretty simple and I hope that my directions were easy for you to follow!

This is the Subway Art I made for my kitchen.  Feel free to download and use for your own kitchen!  It is set to fit in an 8x10 picture frame.

fyi... this is the first time that I have put a link through a picture so PLEASE let me know if it will not open for you!

Here's how it looks in my kitchen!  Love it!

A little bit of stress venting & Oh how I love Vistaprint!

So am I the only one that has BIG, HUGE summer plans which seem to get taken over by other things.  The amount of things on my plate right now is just a bit out of control, however, it is all stuff I enjoy which makes it easier.

On top of tutoring 3 days a week, I have lesson planning for the 16 sessions that I do each week.  I am also desperately trying to make some new activities for next year as well as get things ready for my new classroom and my new Ocean theme!  I have been working on my schedule for next year which has been a nightmare!  We are trying to start an Intervention Block for our RTI program so the schedule has to match up with everyone!

For those of you who have been following me for awhile, you know that I am loving the book "Now I Get It" by Joan Lazar and that I am making some activities to go along with her strategies for comprehension.  I recently emailed her and asked about copyright laws and if I would be able to share them with you all.  I just heard back from her and I am going to send her some of my things to get her approval!  Cross your fingers because I know you all will just lover her stuff!

Outside of school stuff,  I am doing a friend's daughter's wedding cupcake display and the wedding is in 3 weeks!!  I am making 240 cupcakes and a 10 in square topper cake plus I am decorating the stand and making labels for the flavors.  I have also been working on a new cookbook/menu planning system which I can't wait to share (I know we all love teaching stuff, but I also know that we all love food and organization too so I thought you'd like to see my system!)  We are redoing our deck area and our basement. I have also become completely obsessed with Subway Art and have been creating some things for random rooms in the house which I will share soon.  I am doing some reorganizing in just about every room of the house I feel like, and I DESPERATELY WANT TO REDO MY BLOG!!!!!!!!  How on earth will I get all of this done????  *Insert rapid breathing here!*

OK, enough of the complaining, I know it will all get done eventually

If any of you are actually still reading .... My VistaPrint order finally arrived!!

I made this from the invitations and this was actually a design I found already made.  I am going to use these as notes to send home to parents to let them know how well their kiddo is doing!
This is just cute right?! Its a notebook which I plan to use for note taking at meetings.
I also got some blank labels which I can use for the kiddos' folders, newsletters, files, etc.

This poster is going to be part of my birthday wall display

This will probably go on my door for the first month!  I made it, so cute right!

And finally, a cute little notepad!
And I got it all for $17!

    A day in my shoes...

It's International Blog Hopping Day over at TBA and the theme this year is just the cutest thing ever!

You can click the picture to link up, write your own post, or just read all the amazing link ups!  So fun!!

I thought I'd share a day in my shoes! - summer tutoring day that is.
    Ruby Red Slippers

This is based on either a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday... Mondays and Fridays... I do a lot of randomness cuz I'm off! Yay, I love summer!

7:15 am - 1st alarm goes off - I tell The Hubs to get up and I hit

7:30 am - 2nd alarm goes off - Again, I tell The Hubs to get up,
and again, I hit snooze! (yep I'm one of
                    those people)

7:45 am - 3rd alarm goes off, once again, with more force and a
swift kick to the leg, I tell The Hubs to get up and I
reluctantly get out of bed and hop in the shower

8:00 am - pull covers off of The Hubs and I start to get ready.

8:15 am - this time, closer to a yell, I threaten The Hubs to get out
of bed or else *insert threatening comment here*

8:30 am - I head out the door and sit in traffic for a half an hour
until I finally arrive at Barnes and Noble where I will be
posted up for the next 6 to 8 hours...

9 am - 3 pm - kiddos are comin' and goin' working on math,
                    writing, and reading...

3:00 pm - head either home or school and work on lesson plans for
the kiddos I just taught during next week's sessions.

6:00 pm - fix some dinner... usually pinterest inspired! Yum!

7:00 pm - watch some TV with The Hubs/Blog stalk/Make
                     activities/Craft/Play with the Pup!/Housework

10:00 pm - head up to bed and read or watch some more TV
eventually crash and start all over again the next day

What does your day look like?

Happy 4th Everyone & I oculd use some help!

    Hey there everyone!

I hope that everyone has fun plans for today!  I am enjoying a random day off in the middle of the week.  No tutoring today meant sleeping in and of course I wake up at 5 am and COULD NOT get to sleep for anything.  Finally at quarter to 6, I got up and got some laundry done and watched some TV.

Today we are going to my sister-in-law's house for a grill out/in (since it's a billion degrees outside) and then headed out to see some fireworks later tonight.  I'm going to be making some firecracker cupcakes and can't wait to show you them!

As for the help... I am desperately wanting a new blog design and I have been trying SOOOOO hard to figure out how to do it on my own and it just isn't working right.  I know I have mentioned this before and a few of you have given me some suggestions but I can't seem to find them now... of course...

Does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to create one myself OR do you have suggestions of someone who does them cheaply?  I was hoping to use TPT funds to go towards the design but that isn't quite moving as fast as I'd hoped.  So I'm looking for something that's not too expensive and isn't going to make me have to explain it to The Hubs!  Let me know your thoughts!
Have a great day everyone and enjoy the time with family and friends.

    Currently July!!

Oh Farley, how I love these!!! I literally look forward to it each month!  If you haven't yet, you should definitely go check out Farley's blog and link up with this month's currently!

Wanting: If you follow my blog, you know I recently tried a 21 day No Junk Food Challenge... It did not go well!  I am much better at watching calories and eating whatever I want in moderation than I am with being restricted to no junk...  Ok, seriously... no cookies... Don't you people know that Fiber One makes 90 calorie cookies now????? So good!!!!  And hello, it's only 90 calories!  That is less than a serving of fruit!  Yea yea... nutrients, healthier, blah blah blah!!  don't get me wrong.. I love my fruit, but I also love me some good cookies!

    1. I don't get to do read alouds too often.  I always try and find good holiday books and read those to my kiddos right before breaks but I just don't have time for read alouds being in a pull out program.  However, Mr. Peabody's Apples is such a cute book and I love the artwork!  It is written by Madonna too which is pretty cool.

    2. I am currently reading Now I Get It; Teaching Struggling Readers to Make Sense of What They Read by Joan Lazar.  I am really loving her strategies to use for helping students with comprehension. I definitely suggest it to everyone!
