Vacation's over and now it's time to get to work

Hey guys! I spent the last 10 days in Panama City Florida sitting on the beach, doing some shopping, taking a boat tour and seeing some dolphins, Oh and a whole lot of sittin' around doin' nothin'!!!
This was my view for those 10 days... Awesome right?!!!?!!!

So now that I'm back, it's time to get some work done.  I start tutoring on Tuesday.  This week will be devoted to getting to know the kiddos that I haven't yet worked with.  I will be doing some grade level skills assessments and some quick checks just to determine what skills I need to focus on with each kiddo.  This is my first year working part time in the summer and my first time tutoring  a large number of one-on-one groups.  I have 16 kiddos that I meet with each week... Yikes!!! I am postin' up shop at the Barnes & Noble right by our school.  I sure hope they still don't mind me being there once they really see that I will really be there about 6 hours a day, 3 days a week (I talked to the manager awhile ago and he said he didn't care, but I'm still worried).

I have been reading "Now I Get It" by Joan Lazar & Christine Vogel.

I have read quite a bit of it, but decided to go back and go chapter by chapter and make some activities to go along with the strategies.  I am hoping to make activities to post on TPT that go along with the strategies suggested in the book.  I have contacted the authors in hopes that they will approve and will hopefully have a pack of the first strategy completed soon!

Yep... I'm doing it.  Monday starts my 21 day challenge, and I will keep you posted on how I'm doing.  If anyone else would like to join me, we could definitely be a helpful support to each other!

I will also be doing some major organization at my house this summer.  We have some minor reorganization in both bathrooms, a major overhaul in the basement, and emptying out the office, restoring the deck and livening up the deck/patio area, and next week... drum roll please... the downstairs closet!  I'm thinking something like this.... except I have way more stuff so who knows!

Wish me luck!

Shoot for the Moon Multiplication

We are leaving for Florida Wednesday morning and I cannot wait!!!!!!!!  Life throws so many curve balls and this year we have gotten a lot.  With all of the stressers in life, we really enjoy our summer vacations to Florida to relax, get some sun, and enjoy family.  I am so counting down the hours until we leave and I am praying for good weather!  I am going to spend the week on the beach, shopping, and will not have my computer so I will see you after my return!

But before I go, I wanted to let you know that I uploaded a new product to my TPT store.  Its a multiplication fact tracker that is space themed.  Enjoy!!  Isn't it just so cute?!?!

Multiplication Fact Workbook

Hey all... I am so shocked at the amount of TPT love I have received!  It's exciting to have something else to work on and I love all of the resources I have gotten so I'm glad to share mine as well.  I love a challenge and this is a good one!

So with that said, I have been working on a new resource which I have uploaded to my site.  This is a multiplication workbook that I use with my kiddos and it is great practice.  There are 2 pages for each fact, 1-10.  You can download it from Teachers Pay Teachers here.

Well I am off to go take care of my sick hubby!  Cross your fingers that he gets feeling better before we go on vacation next Wednesday... I'm slightly worried...

My First TPT Item!!! Free until Sunday!

I am LOVING being off!  This is the first time I have not worked full time in the summer and it has been great.  Did some shopping, doing lots of reading, and the big one... I set up a TPT Account!!!!!

OK all... Any of you that follow me know that I love making fun little activities to do with my kids.  Everyone seems to have a Teachers Pay Teachers account and so I finally took the time and started an account as well.  I have been so nervous to do this for multiple reasons...
1. Would/will anyone actually buy anything from my site?
2. Will I be able to figure out how to use it?
3. Will I have the time to keep making materials to keep putting into the account?
4. Will people find my stuff useful?

I only have 2 items on my site for now but they are both free.  I uploaded my Chilly Change money game which was a huge hit when I posted it on my blog.  This was my practice round!

Now for the Good Stuff.... In honor of my new TPT Site I created a new writing activity and you can get it for free for a limited time!  And also in honor of summer, it is baseball themed!  This activity is used for expanding sentences and has 2 levels of support for kids.  An independent level and one that has accomodations and support for kiddos that struggle with the concept.

You can download it from my TPT site for free until this Sunday 6/10/12!  But to do so please...
Follow my blog if you don't already
&
Follow my new TPT page

Thanks so much!! I hope you like it and can find it useful!

Summer Reading Linky Party

So now that I am officially on summer break, I thought I would join up with the Summer Reading List Linky party!  Don't you just love a good linky party?  Maybe one of these days I will create one...  Anyways, Clutter-Free Classroom is hosting not only a  linky party, but also a contest!  Head on over there to check it out!

Since I teach Sped Kiddos, I do a lot of work with fluency so I thought this may be a good book to check out.

Positive Teacher Talk for Better Classroom Management (Scholastic Teaching Strategies)

I think this is something that everyone could use a refresher on! I got this at Scholastic's Teacher Express Dollar Days!

Now I Get It! Teaching Struggling Readers to Make Sense of What They Read

More reading professional development!!  Also from Dollar Days!

There are a few more out there that I want to read but I usually don't get much reading done in the summer with working full time.  This is the first summer that I am working part time so hopefully I will have a little more time to get some professional reading done!
