Friend"SHIP"s Activity Freebie

We are working hard to prepare some character education lessons so that they are ready to go and can be pulled out once a week when we have a couple of minutes here and there.  Our plan is to focus on friendship here in the beginning and then as they grasp that we can add things in later.

This is an activity for students to build a friendSHIP! Students have to sift through a pile of puzzle pieces and together in small groups decide which words or phrases are characteristics of a good friend.  Once they have those pieces, they can build their friendSHIP!

Preparing for the New Year

So we had our first curriculum meeting this week.  It is going to be such a fun year!  This year I am working in a team teaching model and there will be 3 of us teaching our K preppers!

Our year is divided into a different Habitat theme each month.  We are starting with the pond habitat which will be so fun!  I am in charge of science and art small groups, planning the academic free centers, and doing a total revamp of our classroom library!

So in order to get started with my planning, I had to make my new teacher binder for the year.  I just love my new cover for the year!  I used backgrounds that  I got free from Melstampz, aren't they so cute?!?!?
This is my weekly planner.  I have a spot to jot down plans for morning meeting, what I will be teaching in small groups, and a spot for any random notes such as special events that day, any lead teaching notes, etc.

Then I made a monthly planning sheet.  A place to jot down notes for the next month's small group plans and holidays and events as well as birthdays.  Most importantly here, I have a place to plan my centers for the month!

Since this is so specific to my needs, I didn't add a link for you to download and use, but if you think this would be great for your use, please comment with your email and I can send you a copy!

Hope everyone's planning is going well... it's getting close!

Monday Made it for the Home

So I am linking up with 4th Grade Frolics for a Monday Made It!  I have been quite the productive mama today.  Still not working on school stuff as our first curriculum meeting isn't until tomorrow.  Being at a new school and in a co-teaching experience is making me a bit tense these days trying to figure out what I will be doing and what I need to prepare but hopefully after our meeting tomorrow I will have a better idea!
So today's craft project was a DIY photo canvas.  We recently moved... OK we moved last November, but we just have not gotten our acts together on getting things done around here!  Well that is changing! I have been dying to put a big giant canvas family photo above our bed but man they are expensive!  I found some online and to have a 24x36 print done it cost between $120 and $150!  Heck no!  I remembered hearing from a friend that you could get large prints made in black and white at Staples for very cheap!  Sure enough, I got a 24x36 in print for $3.50!!! Heck yea!  I ran to Jo Ann Fabrics and got the same size canvas originally $28 but used a 40% off coupon and my 15% teacher discount and got it for about $14!!  I already had Mod Podge and the brushes so I was able to complete me project for under 20 bucks!!!  Now that is what I am talking about!

I love when projects don't need a lot of materials!  It makes me so happy that I don't have an hour of cleanup after I finish!
And the final product...
It has a few more bubbles than I am ok with but Mod Podge and I have a LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP! So all in all I am pleased with it!  Plus once it is on the wall, you won't be able to see them at all.... now if only my husband will get home and get it hung!!
That's all for today, hopefully I'll have a school related Monday Made it next week... I may start going crazy if I don't!

Five for Friday

So I have attempted to make a come back a couple of times and it really just hasn't stuck.... Yep, I'm a crummy blogger!  I do love it though and would love to get back to it consistently so here's another go at it!

1. I was offered a new job and will be teaching Pre-Kinders next year in the cutest little school ever!!!  Seriously, I am so excited and cannot wait to get in there and started on figuring out what I will be focusing on as it is a co-teaching experience!  I will get to have a classroom, see the same students every day, plan fun, cute, exciting activities and I am so thrilled!!!

2. We had a very busy week this week and it included 2 trips to the zoo!  We love the zoo and our membership was the best money spent!!
 3. I have been working my butt off to try and get healthier and exercise more!  Not even including the zoo, we went to the park and walked twice this week and 1 day we walked almost 4 miles!  Down 2 lbs this week!  Woot!!
4. I had my dad build a sensory table for Reagan to play with!  Not only is this great for Reagan but it is giving me some awesome ideas and practice for the school year with my little ones since this will be my first year with youngins!  What do you think of our sensory activity for the week?  The plus: she LOVED it!  The negative: she throws it all on the floor... I'm so tired of sweeping!
5. Loving that 5 for Friday is my first post back again.  It reminds me why I enjoy doing this and following all of you amazing teacher bloggers out there!  Have a great weekend all!
