Five for Friday!

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

It's my last official Friday in summer.  Next week starts teacher work days and inservice days, we have our big back to school carnival, and then we get a week off again before starting the last week in August!  I'd love to say that Peanut and I have been spending our last real week of summer doing awesome things, but it's been kind of dull!  We've done lots of playing at home, relaxing, and movie watching!

We went to the zoo Sunday morning!  We had so much fun and it was such perfect weather!  When we were leaving I hopped on Timehop real quick and realized that a year ago that same day was the first time we ever took Reagan to the zoo.  My how she has grown in a year!

We are having road work done right outside our house (another downside to living right off a main road).  The upside, Peanut is loving the trucks outside and will sit by the window pointing and saying "tuck" all day!  So cute!

I went into school this week and used the app BookBuddy to work in the library.  We have a big library and a lot of teachers all using the same books!  The app allows us to scan all the books so that we can look at the list and find out what books we have to help us plan accordingly!  I got 225 books scanned and tagged!!  You should definitely check it out!

I have been working on lots of lesson plans for the month of September that  I can't wait to share with you all!  Science lessons focused on a pond habitat and what science is, random art experiences, some family tree projects, and the beginnings of some social studies!

And probably the most important!  Those of you with little girls probably know Frozen very well.  Peanut loves it probably because of the music!  Back in the winter, I was at Target one day and saw a box set of the Frozen doll set and Peanut was too young to really care about it so I didn't get it (I know I know, so dumb).  Well this summer, she has really gotten into dolls and so I went back to pick it up for her.... Yea... umm you can't find that stuff anywhere!!!  The shelves say "Frozen yada yada yada..." but they are all empty...all the time!  So we have gone once a week to check and see if its back and today we had to go pick up a birthday gift for a friend of ours' one year old!  And what do you know, they had it, they had 2!  I was so excited!

We were going to wait until Christmas, but yea... I caved.... She loves them and it was definitely worth it!

Funfetti Fudge!

I am sooooooo in love with Funfetti right now!  I tried a Funfetti pound cake 2 weeks ago and discovered I wasn't really a fan of pound cake... to dense... or maybe I screwed it up, who knows but it just wasn't my favorite.  Well the hubs is out golfing tonight, and Peanut was having a great evening of independent play so I decided to do some baking and try Funfetti Fudge!  I found the original recipe on Pinterest of course and discovered a really awesome blog!

Baking is such a stress relief for me and this was the perfect recipe for a busy momma with a very busy 15 month old! This recipe was easy, required a bowl, spoon, measuring cups, and the microwave, oh and I was finished in 15 minutes!  I popped it in the fridge to set and am now enjoying 1, 2, 3, ok I had 4 pieces!!!

If you like funfetti, or you like fudge you will like this recipe.  But if you like both, oh man are you gonna be in trouble!  I am thinking of making this again next week to put in a little gift to give to my new teaching team... who wouldn't want yummy sweets before we start a crazy school year right? Ps, isn't my food photography getting good!  I am super impressed with myself haha!

You will need:
2 Cups yellow cake mix
2 Cups powdered sugar
1/2 Cup (1 stick) butter, cut into 4 pieces
1/4 Cup milk
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup sprinkles

To make it:
1st I mixed the cake mix and powdered sugar together in a microwave safe bowl!
Then, add in the butter and milk, don't bother stirring it!
Next, microwave for 2 minutes.
Take out of microwave and carefully stir to combine.
Once it's blended, add in white chocolate chips and blend again.
Fold in about half of your sprinkle to give some color.
Quickly spread fudge into a 8x8 greased pan. Add remaining sprinkles to top and gently press down to help the sprinkles stay on.
Refrigerate until completely chilled (I left mine in for 2 hours)
Then cut into squares and serve, or eat by yourself!! :)

FarFaria Review Post & a Giveaway

Hi all!!  It has been so busy in our crazy house these past few days!  So much going on to try and get ready for the new school year and transitioning back into that daily routine!  1 more week until teachers report!

I wanted to share with you an app today!  I got my first "reach out" from a company to review and share their product for a free 6 month membership, and I gotta tell you, it's a good one!  It is called FarFaria and it is an app you can use on IPhone or Android devices.  I have looked at a lot of story/book apps now that peanut is starting to love books and well... my phone!  I have not been to thrilled with many of them so when I was contacted to check this one out, I'll admit I was a bit hesitant!  But I really do like it and it is only $4.99 a month for a subscription!

They have more than 750 stories and they add 5 new stories every week!  It is set up like a make-believe land and you can "explore" the different lands, for example there is Mt. Make Believe, Animal Kingdom, & Preschool Playground.

Seriously how cute is this?? You pick on the "land" that you want to discover and the stories match the theme!  There are fiction and non-fiction stories and Reagan loves them!  They are bright and colorful and keep her attention.  I also like the feature that allows it to be read aloud to the child which gives it an opportunity of independence for the child!

I actually plan on using this app at home with my little one, and on my Android tablet at school with my K-preppers!  The nonfiction stories will be great for my habitat units and the fiction ones will be great to use throughout the year!  We may even have the tablet in the library center for kiddos to use!

Now here is the best part!!  The company is willing to give one of my readers a free 3 month membership to try it out!  Use the rafflecopter below to enter!  Trust me, you will love this app!  If you aren't already a follower, become one and get 2 entries!
